The Open Food Network

The Open Food Network is an open source online platform for food producers and community food hubs.

OFN enables shorter supply chains and is designed to foster cooperation and collaboration in the local food economy.

Food Hubs on the Open Food Network will help to:

  • improve access to fresh, local food for people in Lincolnshire;
  • support producers to get a fairer price by selling direct and through community food hubs;
  • and develop a low carbon, resilient local food system through shorter supply chains.

Prepare for the workshops

Message from Nick Weir, OFN:

We are looking forward to working with you to connect you up with the Open Food Network.  This will help us to build food hubs and short food supply chains that will help you sell your produce direct to local eaters and buyers.

Here are a few things that you could do in advance of the workshop that will speed things up on the day.

It is also fine to come along without having done any of this preparation.  By doing this preparation you are not committing to anything and you will not be charged for setting up your enterprise on the Network.  Also you will not be added to any mailing lists.

Remember – if any of this seems too complicated, we can help you with it on the day and there is always the online and email support team available.

Click here to register your enterprise on the Open Food Network.  This takes 5-10 minutes

Once you have set up your enterprise you have 3 choices;

  • if you would like to sell your products through someone else’s shop please click here
  • if you would like to sell only your own products through your own shop please click here
  • if you would like to sell your own products and other people’s produce through your own shop please click here

If you want to set up regular subscriptions or memberships here are the steps you need to take.

If you want to offer pay-it-forward donations here are the steps you need to take.

If you are wanting to take payment in the form of Healthy Start (HS) vouchers, the new HS system does not allow online shopping so we are currently using this process.  However are also working on a new development that would enable shoppers to use HS vouchers more seamlessly with OFN.

We are looking forward to working with you.  If you need any help before the workshop please contact the OFN support team here
