Mint Lane Cafe

Friendship Through Food

Affordable Cafe & Surplus Shop

Mint Lane Café provides a warm welcome to the Involve@Lincoln wellbeing centre, which is home to other activities including counselling, peer support groups, creative therapy sessions and condition themed support.

All of the groups and organisations have the overall aim of bringing people together to combat isolation, loneliness and encourage positive mental health and well-being.

Reducing food waste by taking retail surplus, as well as fresh food donations from local farms and allotment holders, Mint Lane Cafe provides affordable meals in their cafe and groceries in their Surplus Shop.

  • Cafe serving Breakfast & Lunch
  • Surplus shop selling ambient, chilled and frozen food
  • World Food Supper Club, Gardening Club, Cookery Classes
  • Whole Meals initiative producing nutritious, homemade ready meals
  • Open Wednesday – Friday 10am-2pm

The Cafe is led by a thriving volunteer group and offers a welcoming atmosphere and all types of training to new volunteers.

The four main aims of Mint Lane Cafe are –

  • Social Eating
  • Action on Food Poverty
  • Reduce Food Waste
  • Volunteering Opportunities

Mint Lane Café aims to make a difference in the lives of anyone who engages with the café. This includes volunteers, staff and customers. We get to meet a wide variety of people, all of whom experience their own individual difficulties, but what the café provides helps everyone despite what may be happening in their life.

Fruit & Veg Boxes

Our volunteers put together fantastic boxes of fruit and vegetables fresh every week, from a selection of produce that has either been donated to the cafe or rendered surplus to requirements by supermarkets and catering companies.

Whole Meals

Our Whole Meals initiative offers nutritionally balanced ready meals lovingly made by our group of kitchen volunteers and volunteers from The University of Lincoln. Typically vegetarian and vegan, these meals are freshly made then frozen and for sale in our surplus shop for only £1 each. Created from food that has been donated to us or otherwise surplus, our whole meals allow us to rescue even more food was landfill. Packaged in locally designed and produced eco-friendly, compostable packaging.

World Food Supper Club

Enjoy home cooked food from international chefs.

Facilitated by Amie the Good Food Movement coordinator at Greater Lincolnshire Food Partnership, our newest supper club presents WORLD FOOD, immersive experiences from all around the world, which will include storytelling, sharing of traditions and of course, delicious food and drink brought to you by fantastic guest chefs.

Join our Friday morning Gardening Club for the opportunity to get outside, enjoy our community garden space and learn more about growing fruit and vegetables, composting and the principles of permaculture.
