Springwell Academy Lincoln is proud to be launching a new community grocery.
The student run project is designed to support local families, students and staff while strengthening links between the school and the wider community.
The community grocery will offer affordable food and essential items in a welcoming environment.

Its aim is simple but powerful: to help reduce food waste, provide practical support to those who need it and create a space where the community feels connected and supported.
What makes this project truly special is the role of our students; the larder will be run by students with staff support, giving them hands-on experience and real-world skills such as budgeting, basic accounting, stock control and customer service.
Students will be responsible for managing stock, welcoming customers, handling transactions and working as a team whilst at the same time developing confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of social awareness.
Through this project students are not only learning fundamental business skills; they are learning empathy, communication, problem solving and the importance of contributing positively to their community.
By working with real customers and by taking on real responsibilities they gain valuable life skills that will support them well beyond the classroom.

The community grocery is also part of our commitment to sustainability: by working with local partners and suppliers to redistribute surplus food we are helping to reduce waste while making good food accessible to more people.
We warmly invite members of the local community to be part of this initiative by visiting the grocery, spreading the word, offering support or simply encouraging our students as they take on this meaningful role.
Together we hope to build a project that not only provides food but also builds skills, confidence and community spirit.
